DMC plans to bring his group’s story to a new medium.
Following the release of the recent documentary DMC: Walk This Way, DMC has announced that he will try to take Run-DMC’s story to Broadway.
“Before we do the film, we’re taking the story to Broadway,” explained the Rap legend in an interview with SOHH.com. “We grew up big time. So when we do stuff, we gotta do it big. Yeah. We’re in discussions right now. We’re over halfway there. It’s a strong possibility that we will be taking the Run-DMC to Broadway. Then after we do the play, we’ll do the picture. We want to do Broadway first.”
“We’ve been in talks for about the last year and a half. What we have to do right now is get a script and a storyline and get some pre-production going on,” he added. “The definite thing about it is it’s going to happen.”
Currently, the group is also poised to have a biopic released sometime in the future.

Black Eyed Peas frontman will.I.am recently met with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in Washington DC, where it was announced that the rapper will direct a concert in Beijing later this year, to highlight the importance of educational and cultural ties between the United States and China.
The concert will celebrate US–China educational and cultural exchanges, with a performance by will.I.am and other American and Chinese pop stars, who will support President Obama’s “100,000 Strong Initiative.”
President Obama launched the “100,000 Strong Initiative” in May of 2010. The program aims to dramatically increase and diversify the number of American students studying in China.
“In order to become responsible global citizens, young people need to experience the world around them,” will.i.am said. “Kids from underserved communities rarely have the opportunity to study and travel abroad, and we want to change that. We must make sure that American students have the cultural awareness and skills necessary to succeed in a global economy.”
The concert is being organized by Americans Promoting Study Abroad, which is a US-based nonprofit organization offering full scholarships to public high school students for language and cultural studies in China.
Proceeds from the concert will be donated to support and operate programs abroad for underserved American students studying in China.
A date has yet to be set for the concert. For more information log on to: http:www.state.gov/100Kstrong.

The legal battle over a sample used in Jay-Z’s hit single “Big Pimpin’” continues in court, as a lawsuit has been filed against the rapper and producer Timbaland.
Ahab Joseph Nafal filed a $5,000,000 lawsuit on July 23rd in United States District Court, Central District of California.
The lawsuit revolves around the use of the song “Khosara, Khosara,” which Timbaland sampled in Jay-Z’s 2000 hit single “Big Pimpin’.”
Lawyers argued that “Khosara, “Khosara” was created in 1957 and was governed by the 1909 Copyright Act and not the 1976 Copyright Act.
The lawsuit was dismissed in 2007, because Nafal failed to join all individuals with rights to the composition in the lawsuit, as the 1909 Act mandates.
In the earlier lawsuit, lawyers for Jay-Z and Timbaland and claimed they received proper sample clearance from representatives of the Baligh Hamdy, the original composer of the song.
In May, a federal judge ruled that the children of Baligh Hamdy were allowed to continue the lawsuit, after it was ruled Jay-Z and Timbaland had only obtained “economic rights” for the song and that Hamdy’s other children never granted permission to use the sample.
The amended lawsuit re-asserts claims that Jay-Z and Timbaland failed to receive proper sample clearances or pay the proper royalties on the tune.
Jay-Z is named in the lawsuit along with Roc-A-Fella Records, Def Jam, Warner Music Group, Linkin Park (over a remixed version) and Def Jam.

Looks like Teen Nick isn’t the only thing making a 90’s revival. In the jaw dropping turn of events since Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony announced their split, it’s being reported that J-Lo is now rekindling her highly publicized relationship with rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
According to BET, anonymous sources from both camps seem to be confirming reports. Diddy’s source tells BET that Jennifer is “the love of his life” and he’s anticipating a union with his “fantasy girl.” A source on Jen’s side says “Puff wouldn’t be my first choice for her, but then again he was always very supportive of her sex symbol image and never got mad when she wore sexy clothes. He actually encouraged it.”
In case you’re not familiar with this love story, the two had the grand celebrity romance, which unfortunately (or fortunately depending on who you’re asking) ended soon after the 1999 shooting at Club New York that left Diddy on trial for weapons charges. Although both Diddy and Jen came out the situation free of charges, the incident left a dent on the relationship that was never repaired… until now.

Eminem has reached a settlement with Audi, in regards to a copyright infringement lawsuit over a commercial that featured music that sounded like the rapper’s hit single “Lose Yourself.”
In June, Eminem’s publishing company 8 Mile Style file the lawsuit against Audi in Hamburg Regional Court in Germany.
The lawsuit claimed that the car company’s commercial for the 2012 Audi A6 Avant lifted key elements of Chrysler’s award-winning “Imported from Detroit” campaign for the new Chrysler 300.
The commercial featured background music that sounded very similar to “Lose Yourself,” which topped the charts for 12 weeks in 2002.
According to the Detroit Free Press, terms of the settlement were not made available to the public, although Audi will finically support various charities around the city.
“Just like Imported From Detroit helped benefit charities like the Marshall Mathers Foundation, we as Eminem’s publisher can give back to Detroit,” said 8 mile style’s attorney Joel Martin. “We’re looking forward to working with Chrysler on several new Imported From Detroit initiatives that will benefit the city of Detroit as well as charities within the city.”

Pam Pinnock, DMX’s friend and long time publicist spoke to the rapper last night to clear up confusion surrounding an upcoming reality show.
According to Pinnock, who has worked with DMX for numerous years, AllHipHop.com’s report stating that the reality show was not being produced is in fact, false.
“For the record I never stated there was not a reality show and I did not state there’s a disgruntle ex-girlfriend making these false reports,” Pam Pinnock told AllHipHop.com. “This has been a very exhausting week. I have received over a thousand emails with request for X. There has been so much miscommunications surrounding press releases, reality shows, who X publicist is and who actually holds title as his manager. This is partly due to so many people want to be involved with X because they love and respect him so much. While X was in prison many fans as well as professionals reached out to him and offered their services.”
Prior to the rapper’s release from prison, Pinnock had been out of the country traveling and was not made aware of the various professionals DMX had agreed to work with.
“X called me a few days ago and confirmed he had agreed to work with a select few and asked that I work in conjunction with these individuals. Last night he called me again and requested that I clear up the rumors circulating that there is no reality show.
“‘Yes, I am doing a reality show’” Pinnock said DMX stated. Additionally, DMX is planning on tightening his inner circle as he reemerges on the Hip-Hop scene.
“The fact that there is indeed a reality show in the works,” Pam Pinnock clarified to AllHipHop.com. “[DMX has made a] decision to take a step back and reevaluate who’s phony and who’s fake in the DMX compound. In the coming weeks DMX will make an official announcement as to who stays and who goes as he makes his rounds in the hip hop community and we can all watch as the king of hip hop reclaims his crown.”

Representatives for rapper Soulja Boy have come forward to deny reports that he recently purchased a $55,000,000 jet.
Yesterday (July 29), TMZ.com reported that soldier boy purchased an expensive G5 jet for his 21st birthday.
Instead of purchasing the jet, the rapper was simply borrowing it from a billionaire, according to reports.
“Elaborate rumors circulating about Soulja Boy purchasing agent for his 21st birthday are grossly over exaggerated and are not true,” spokesman Greg Miller told Reuters in a statement.
Representatives for Soulja Boy have yet to explain why they concocted story.
